This is the safety board that we used in the Australian UAV Outback Challenge .
This board is designed to plug into a MaxStream XStream or XCite radio modem. The serial data is then given to the autopilot (RS232 TTL). If the autopilot or ground station fails to provide a heartbeat signal, then this board can start generating the failsafe servo signals. The board has a 5v switching regulator to provide power to the servos. This board is designed to be powered seperately from the autopilot.
This board contains a PIC 18F2331 Microcontroller (unprogrammed) that can generate servo signals for 8 channels. Please let us know if you need this board programmed. A programming header is on the board for programming the PIC. Source code may also be available.
Please email us for more information on this board. We recommend using two of them, one for the UAV and one for the ground station.
